Delphiniums are one of the most loved and traditional plants in the cottage garden.  The history of delphiniums in cultivation can be traced back as far as 1780, when they were first documented for trade.  Delphinium belladonna is later referenced  in the ‘Floricultural Cabinet and Florist’s Magazine’ in 1857,  as a desirable form with large pale lavender-blue flowers.  Clearly our love affair with delphiniums is timeless!
